FindMySoft Editor's Review
Free Audio Editor - Lightweight audio cutting utility
Review by on
If you wish to get rid of an intro or other unwanted segments in a song, Free Audio Editor can help you do it in just a few seconds. It is designed to be fast and user friendly. Removing segments from audio files is the application's main purpose, but you can also use it to convert your audio files or to split them into multiple bits.

Free Audio Editor is offered as a freeware application, as the name implies. Its setup file is quite small, but it will download additional contents during the installation process, which may take some time with a slower Internet connection. The hardware requirements are modest and there is no need to install any additional tools or drivers.

The application's user interface displays only a small number of controls, so you don't have to navigate through a large number of complex menus. Once you load an audio file, its waveforms, for the left and right channels, will show up in the larger area of the window. Options for cutting the file are located directly beneath the waveforms, where you can also find the application's output options.

You can exclude any segment on the waveform by marking its start and end positions. Additionally, you can place tags anywhere in a song's timeline and use them to split the song into multiple pieces. Tags can be placed manually or automatically, every few minutes.

Free Audio Editor places several options at your disposal when it comes to exporting a file. First, you can choose from various output formats, including MP3, WAV, OGG and others. Furthermore, you can tick an option to split the file by tags or by the selections on the waveform. Finally, you can decide to save the file in its original quality or in a different one.

Pros:
You can use the application to cut and split audio files. Free Audio Editor provides you with multiple means of cutting an audio file. It also provides multiple output options.

Cons:
There are no controls for joining files.

While using Free Audio Editor, a few clicks is all it takes to cut, trim or split audio files.
